Risk tier

What is a risk tier?

A risk tier is a grouping of members by how likely they are to lapse. Rather than giving you 300 individual scores to interpret, PATO sorts members into tiers so you can act on a group — and so automated outreach knows who to contact.

What it’s for

A number per member is data. A tier is a decision.

Tiers let you set different responses to different levels of drift: a gentle nudge for someone slightly off-pattern, something more personal for someone who’s genuinely gone quiet. You set what happens at each tier — the channel, the threshold, the message.

Why it matters for your gym

The failure mode with retention data isn’t a lack of it. It’s having a report nobody acts on because acting means deciding, member by member, at the end of a long day.

Tiers remove the deciding. Once you’ve set the rules, the system knows who gets contacted and how, and it happens whether or not anyone remembered.

Common questions

How is risk worked out?
From member behaviour over time. We don’t publish the model — but you control the thresholds that trigger action, which is the part that affects you.
Can I see why a member is in a tier?
Yes. Their timeline and attendance heatmap show what changed.
Will members know?
No. It’s an internal signal.
