What is your gym software actually costing you?

Not the subscription. The subscription plus the percentage most platforms take from every payment your members make. Two numbers and you’ll know.

Where the difference comes from

We don’t take a percentage of your members’ payments. You connect your own payment account, pay your processor their rate, and we never sit in the middle.

That’s the whole difference. Our subscription is our price, and it doesn’t move when your revenue does.

Which is why the gap grows as you do. A percentage scales with your takings; a subscription doesn’t. Drag your member count to double and watch what happens.

What we assumed

Stated plainly, because a calculator you can’t check is a calculator you can’t trust.

Payment processing

Direct debit at roughly 1% + $0.40 per transaction, capped at $4 — the rail most New Zealand gyms use. If your members pay by card, processing costs more for both of us and the gap narrows.

Competitor rates

Their published rates, last verified 2026-08-14, each linked to the page we read it off. Some negotiate; yours may differ. Where a platform doesn’t publish a rate, the page says so and uses a labelled estimate rather than pretending to know.

Currency

GymMaster publishes in NZD. PushPress, Gymdesk and TeamUp publish in USD and Mindbody in AUD; those are converted at 1.65 and 1.09 as at 2026-08-14. Rates move, so treat converted figures as close rather than exact.

Our plan

Picked from your member count — $99 up to 100 members, $249 up to 300, $499 up to 750. Above that we quote.

Add-ons aren’t included

On either side. If you need Classes, Access or Shop, add them to our column — and check what they cost on yours, because several platforms charge for a branded member app that we include.

Your average fee, not your actual revenue

We multiply members by average fee rather than asking for a processed-revenue figure you’d have to go and look up. Treat the result as close, not exact.

We’ve deliberately not put a thumb on the scale. If the numbers come out against us, the page says so — we’d rather you found that here than in month three.

How to find what you’re paying now

Compare what your members were billed last month against what actually landed in your account. The gap is your processor’s fee plus your platform’s cut — and most owners are surprised by the second number.

Questions people ask

It's as accurate as the numbers you put in. Every assumption is listed on the page, and we've used competitors' published rates with the date we last checked them.

Because we don't make money on your members' payments. One of those numbers is visible and one isn't, and we'd rather ours was the visible one.

No. You connect your own payment account and pay your processor directly. We never sit in the middle of the money.

Choose "something else" and enter the percentage they take. Your last statement will tell you: compare what your members were billed against what landed in your account.

No, on either side. Check what a branded member app costs on your current platform — it's the most common surprise, and it's included on every PATO plan.
